Past Perfect Tense-Grammar Rules

(Aux-had+VPP)

Past Perfect Tense টা ইংরেজিতে বেশ মজার ব্যাপার। অতীত কালকে দুটি কাজ হয়েছিল ; এবং একটার আগে যার একটি কাজ হয়েছিল ---- এমন বোঝালে, যে কাজটা আগে হয়েছিল বোঝাবে তার  Verb-এর Past Perfect Tenseহবে। আর  Verb টা Had+VPP দিয়ে বলতে হবে। পরে হওয়া  কাজটার Verbটা Past Indefinite Tense-এ হবে।

Past Perfect Formula 

The formula for the past perfect tense is had + [past participle]. বিষয়টি একক বা বহুবচন কিনা তা বিবেচ্য নয়; সূত্র পরিবর্তন হয় না।

যেমন -

তুমি আসার আগে আমি ইংরেজি পড়ছিলাম 

অতীত কালকেই দুটি কাজ হয়েছিল। 

1. তুমি এসেছিলে। You come.
2. আমি ইংরাজী পড়ছিলাম। I read English. কিন্তু যেহেতু তুমি আসার আগে আমার ইংরাজি পড়া কাজ টা হয়েছিল বোঝাচ্ছে তাই ইংরেজিতে বলতে হবে:

=>I had read English before you come.
=>The patient had died before the doctor came.
=> We had played before the rain came.

Affirmative Sentence

[S+Aux+VPP+Other words]

• The train had left before we reached the station,
• He had finished the work before the train came.
• They had played football before the train started .

Negative Sentance

[S+Aux+Neg+VPP+Other words]

• He had not eaten rice before his father came.
• You had not read English before he came.
• The boy had not done anything before you came.

Interrogative Sentence

[Aux+S+VPP+Other words]

• Had he seen the tiger before Indra came?
• Had you heard the sound before people cried?
• had she told you anything before she wept?
